This is Musicopia, the website of Val and David Machell.

They are both musicians dedicated to the cause of music-making for amateurs and young people, through their teaching (piano for Val, singing for David), their choir-leading and their writing.

David is an award-winning composer (Barclaycard Composer of the Year Commendation Award, Schools Music Association First Prize for ‘Great Fire of London’, International Horn Society Second Prize for Jazz Suite for Horn, First Prize for Ma can we go to the Circus, and Songs of Praise for Hallelujah! Your Kingdom Come).

They also organise “Big Sing” musical events, often based round their community choir Soundswell, the Nottingham open-access singing group

One recent event held was the premiere of David’s Gloria. This was premiered on November 12 2011 in St Martin’s Church, Sherwood, Nottingham. Gloria was performed by The Nottingham Bach Choir on June 23rd, 2012. Full programme for the concert is here.
