David Machell is full of ideas for ever-new ways to have riotous fun – and deep personal satisfaction – through music.

He has created his own music since he was knee-high to a piano stool, sung his way through three years at Cambridge, infected many generations at Nottingham High School for Girls with his mischievous musical extravaganzas, and now, with many composing awards and publications to his name, he composes, performs and teaches from his base in Nottinghamshire.

He has a full timetable of singing students; his youngest is eight years old, and his oldest over eighty. Lessons are divided between exercises to build a safe and secure singing technique and working on songs, often of the student’s choosing.

Some students enjoy taking the London College Popular Vocals or ABRSM examinations (often earning valuable UCAS points for University in the process) although most simply enjoy the work.

Every year his students perform an informal concert to parents, family and friends, entitled the Blue Moon Cafe.
