Soundswell

Soundswell is a community singing group that makes everyone welcome.

We believe that if you can speak, you can sing! Yes, everyone can sing, and through singing gain self-confidence and increased well-being.

  • We absolutely don’t have auditions…
  • We do spend time on physical warm-ups and relaxation exercises….
  • We do spend time on actually teaching sound vocal technique…
  • We don’t have the stresses of public performance…
  • We sometimes sing a capella (ie no accompaniment) and sometimes have a piano backing...
  • We do have music dots for those that can read or who aspire to read music, but we teach everything slowly, line by line, by ear, with words-only copies to back this up…
  • We don’t label you as Soprano / Alto etc – you can move parts from song to song if you wish….
  • We do provide a CD with all the songs for the term taught clearly in parts…
  • We are friendly to all faiths and to none…
  • We have a complete mixture of repertoire… folk, jazz, blues, gospel, doo-wop, ballad, comedy songs, songs from the shows…
  • We have a warm, well-appointed rehearsal room with guarded parking…
  • We are disabled-friendly, with full wheelchair access…
  • We are financially self-supporting…

..... and we always have a huge amount of FUN!!!
