Oct 24th 2015: Received this email from Alan Causon:

Dear Andre,

There are 4 Attachments to this Email including a letter (see below) and 3 photographs .

We are sorry that neither Michael nor I are able to add further details but I think that Jock may have dressed up for a special occasion even though I know that he never had a motorbike!!!!! You will notice that the gear he was wearing appeared to dwarf him, no doubt you will agree. I know that he wore glasses being very short sighted.

Trusting that in time you will be able to add the latest to our Website.

Kindest Regards,

Alan Causon.

This is the letter mentioned above:

Dear Andre,

Would you be so kind as to add these photographs taken and presented by Michael Brown a former Fireman at Shinfield during the 1958/60’s Period. He was posted to Shinfield from R.A.F. Worksop.

The Motor Cyclist was John Wylie a friend of Michael’s who was stationed at Shinfield also. The chap in motor cycling gear is unknown now to either of us. The dog seen was a puppy born to the dog which Jock Campbell owned who at the time was one of the smallest Airman to be seen at Shinfield Park who possessed an irrepressible personality. Jock certainly did not lack personality. He was into everything which occurred at the Camp from Entertainments Committee to playing in goal for the Station 2nd. Eleven Football Team. He was Cpl. In charge of the Station Fire Section.

Jock’s dog was being exercised when he met another person on the Camp with a dog on a lead when they became too friendly. This brief encounter resulted in 5 Puppies being born at the Fire Station. Michael took one home and the others were housed elsewhere. Jock Campbell was a character in his own right who seemed to be able to act independently of R.A.F. discipline and always got away with any acts of folly he may have committed.

It would be appreciated if you would Edit as appropriate and add details perhaps briefly to our Website.

Many thanks,

Alan Causon.
